DAILY
ACTIVITIES |
The ECHO Staff and our trained Volunteers make sure you get the most out of your visit to ECHO by providing special daily programs that highlight exhibits, regional happenings, science phenomena, and historical artifacts. You never know what you'll encounter each day at ECHO! |
Every day, ECHO's Staff and Volunteers lead a variety of
on-floor activities and programs, known as ECHO
Encounters. These activities change from day-to-day and
season-to-season, and are often related to our changing
exhibits. Some encounters run all day, while others may
last only 15 or 20 minutes. Here is a small sampling of
just some of the activities you may encounter on your
visit to ECHO.
What is a Nano?
Have you seen a nano? How big is a nano? Find out while
we use oven mitts and blocks to learn more about the
emerging world of nano science.
Stewardship Jenga!
|
 |
How high can you build the Jenga tower? In our giant
game of Stewardship Jenga, you'll use our giant Jenga
blocks to strategically build your tower as high as you
can go without it tumbling down. However, there's a
twist! Every block has a unique question or topic
relating to Lake stewardship. Questions range from "When
you draw or color, do you use both sides of a piece of
paper?" to "Where is the best place to wash your car
—
your driveway or in the yard?"

Composting Worms
Reach into ECHO's cool worm bin and grab a cup full of
compost to explore the science of worm composting. Did
you know that worms can eat your garbage? Get an up
close look at these worms, watch them break down old
fruit and paper, and find out how you can start your own
worm composting bin at home. |
|
Hands-on CraftsWhether it's creating frog masks or building a model of
Champ out of recycled material, you'll find plenty of
things to make and take at ECHO.
Make a Button
ECHO's button machine has long been a guest
favorite. Color in one of several designs, and then
watch as ECHO's volunteers transform it into a
button that you can wear and take home. Make a
different button each time you visit and get a full
collection!
Native Games & Activities
If kids didn't go to school hundreds of years ago,
how did they learn? By playing games! While visiting
ECHO, join in to one of the many Native American
Games like Flinch, pick up sticks, or string games
and learn some of the skills Native American's
gained from partaking in many different pastimes. |
