|Learning while doing couldn't be more applicable in these two action-packed exhibit areas — there are lots of opportunities for "parallel play" too!
Join us for a year of testing, experimenting, and sharing YOUR ideas! We invite you and your children to come play in the Discovery Place Test Site to help us visualize the future of ECHO’s Preschool Exhibit Space.
Step into a special room of discovery designed for ECHO's
littlest visitors! Discovery Place takes the theme of the
mid-1800's Burlington Waterfront and presents miniature icons
for physical play. Board a sailboat to skim imaginary waves, or sit by the campfire in your campsite. Load a basket with veggies from
the shop, or pop up on a Painted Turtle in the unique aquarium
that invites close inspection from "inside" the tank!
Parents and caregivers enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this
enclosed space and plenty of
action for toddlers and preschoolers.
Where's my boat? Why, it floated downstream, through the
rapids into Lake Champlain! How does water move and where does
it come from? How is Lake Champlain like a great, big bathtub?
Get your mind wet exploring the physical properties of water in
Watershed Way. There are plenty of loose props for experimental
play with wooden boats, twiddle fish, a waterwheel, shower
cloud, and moveable streambeds. A miniature version of the real
watershed we call home. Parents, this is an excellent opportunity to
get in there with your youngster and create memorable moments in
science. (Waterproof smocks are provided).
