ECHO RECEIVES MILLION DOLLAR ENDOWMENT
Lois McClure Champions ECHO’s Future

(BURLINGTON, VT) — On Friday, May 16th — in celebration of ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain’s 5th Anniversary — philanthropist Lois McClure made a one-million-dollar gift to ECHO’s endowment fund; helping to  ensure the center’s future for many years to come. Senator Leahy to join Lois McClure for an Important Announcement

(BURLINGTON, VT) — This May, ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, will enter its 5th year of serving locals and visitors alike, and they’re launching their birthday celebration with a splash: Friday, May 16th, Senator Leahy and Lois McClure will headline a special evening for invited guests, highlighted by a very exciting announcement, and on May 31st, a community celebration will mark the actual date of ECHO’s 5th birthday, celebrating the milestone of welcoming over 750,000 guests through the science center’s doors. Step Into the Physics of Human Movement This Summer at ECHO

(BURLINGTON, VT) — What do frisbee, snowboarding, and dancing at your high school prom all have in common? The laws of physics, of course. Explore the science of movement by visiting ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center this summer to experience Body Language: an interactive exhibit bringing physics to life, May 17 – September 1. Sponsored by Merchants Bank, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, and Vermont Chiropractic Association. Full Release

New Green-Themed Café at ECHO Offers “Tasty Bites” of Wisdom — Grand Opening April 14th

(BURLINGTON, VT) — Can restaurants help diners make choices that are kinder to our planet, while providing tasty food, WiFi, and awesome views? ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center thinks so, and on April 14th, they’re opening their new green-themed Think! Café to prove it. The realization of the café was made possible by generous grants from the WaterWheel Foundation, the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation, and Vermont Tent Company. Part eatery, part exhibit, and all kinds of fun, Think! is a unique experience that’s not to be missed. Full Release

Popular ECHO Earth Weeks MudFest Event Returns April 14th – 27th

(BURLINGTON, VT) — Looking forward to spring? ECHO is ushering in the arrival of the birds ‘n’ bees with their 4th annual ECHO Earth Weeks MudFest event. This two-week celebration of Earth Day and Mud Season runs April 14th - 27th and features dozens of daily events and activities, ecology booths, renowned Vermont musicians, and even free chocolate ice-cream. ECHO Earth Weeks also heralds the grand opening of ECHO’s green-themed Think! Café. Full Release

COMMUNITY DONATES ECHO ANNUAL PASSES TO NEIGHBORS

(BURLINGTON, VT) - Thanks to our generous community, ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, is pleased to announce that it will give 1,029 Annual Passes to low-income kids and families this year. During the recent holiday season, when people acquired or renewed an Annual Pass, ECHO matched their purchase by donating an Annual Pass to a neighbor in need. Full Release

SEA LAMPREYS USHER IN VERMONT & NEW YORK DISCOUNT

(BURLINGTON, VT) - In case you haven't been to ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center lately - or even if you have - make sure to visit starting February 16th to go "mouth-to-mouth" with live sea lampreys, a new addition to the popular exhibit, Attack of the Bloodsuckers! And as if lampreys aren't enough, also beginning that Saturday is ECHO's Vermont & New York Discount, where every resident gets $2 off admission through April 28th. Full Release

IT'S A FROG WORLD AFTER ALL
ECHO Debuts Global Creatures Exhibit Series on Feburary 24

(BURLINGTON, VT) — What's red and green and eats crickets for a midnight snack? Why the newest resident of ECHO, the red-eyed treefrog, of course. And that's only one of the many beautiful and bizarre amphibians that make up FrogWorld -ECHO's premiere exhibit in a new series featuring world creatures to compare to our regional critters. Opening February 24, and sponsored by Redstone, the permanent exhibit is highlighted by interactivities, educational displays, and most importantly, a bevy of fantastic and otherworldly frogs that are sure to make thinking globally more fun than ever before.Full Release

ECHO ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF ECHO EARTH WEEKS ART CONTEST

Burlington, VT)-ECHO reached out to K-12 students in Vermont and upstate New York to submit their artistic interpretation of a “Healthy Food Chain.” 813 entries were submitted to ECHO, which were then judged by an Art Panel of artists and environmentalists. Full Release
